INTERPOL–EMCDDA cooperation

The legal framework for cooperation with Interpol was established by a Cooperation Agreement signed by the two organisations in September 2001. Since then, collaboration has developed in the area of drug supply and supply reduction and covered the following themes: data collection on drug seizures and prices, drug trafficking trends, money laundering and Internet sales.

The exchange of knowledge and expertise takes place through participation in expert meetings focused on drug-related issues, as well as sharing publications and technical documents related to law enforcement.

Interpol and EMCDDA staff members regularly meet during the events organised by regional and international bodies, such as WCO, CICAD, Pompidou Group platform meeting and international initiatives, such as Paris Pact.

Moreover, the EMCDDA regularly attends Interpol’s general assemblies. In the past, the Centre addressed the assembly and presented its work in the area of supply and supply reduction.

Future activities will cover an analysis of the drug market including wholesale prices and drug trafficking trends.
